Fantastic Day in the Chorley Family History Research Centre on Saturday - the opening of the Festubert Exhibition being held in the Astley Farmhouse and the Research Centre. Nearly 200 people came through the Research Centre to see the fabulous exhibits made by the schoolchildren of Chorley and to learn a little more of the Chorley men who died on 15 June 1915 at the Battle of Fetubert.

The exhibition is open for the next fortnight Mondays Wednesdays Fridays Saturday and Sunday from 12.00 till 3.30pm. Well worth a visit.

Have a look at the  the photos we took in our Gallery at http://www.cfhrc.com/festubert-exhibition-june-2015.html

Centenary of the Battle of Festubert Exhibition

Volunteers from LFHHS Chorley Family History Research have been visiting local schools and welcoming them to the Family History Research Centre at Astley Hall Farmhouse to help them research soldiers killed at the battle of Festubert in preparation for the staging of an exhibition to commemorate the sacrifice made by Chorley soldiers during the Battle of Festubert in June 1915.

The exhibition opens in the Astley Hall Farmhouse and Chorley Family History Research Centre on the 13 June at 12noon. Admission is free.

The project has been a collaboration between Chorley Primary and Secondary schools, Astley Hall staff, local historians, LFHHS Chorley Family History Research Centre and the Chorley Heritage Centre.

This has been a significant historical and creative project aimed to connect young people from primary and secondary schools in the area with the events their community responded to a century ago. It is an opportunity to see Chorley’s experience of The Great War through the eyes of our next generation of citizens

The result is a fantastic and very moving exhibition that runs 13 - 28 June, 12noon-3.30pm, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
